Can someone please explain to me all the hype about Alberto Del Rio?

I really don't know whats all the buzz about. The guy is a fantastic wrestler, but so are alot of wrestlers on the WWE roster. So whats so special about him? Is it his mic skills? Because I don't see the value in that either. He sounds no different from Ted Debiase, Heath Slater or any other average mid-carder. I would place Santino or even John Morrison way above him in that category. Is all the hype just because he has a gimmick similar to JBL's?
