How much did it cost you to build a wind turbine?

I've studied them on instructables.com, youtube, and my state websites. I know enough about the technology to build it. I was wondering if anyone has actually built there own and how much it cost. How much of your set up was bought new and how much was salvaged? I've seen the estimates of $1,000 per kw and I just don't believe that that can be accurate if you're doing everything yourself
