Is an advanced diploma worth doing?

Some schools do offer ociates degrees in criminology and or criminal justice. You could always work at police stations/jails as a attendent (guarding the prisoners) and you won't need a degree..work for a while and they will pay you to go to school.. Check with your local jails/courthouses and ask them ..They would know more than we would..we don't know where you live or anything about that area.
