I have xbox 360 i hate to pay just to go online should i get a ps3 so i can play online. not to sure w 2 do?

i not to sure if i should get a ps3 to play with friends cod blk ops and mod games it's just $200.00 i dont know which is better xbox or ps3. plz help thanks
