Why are men so repulsed about the idea that women should be equal to them?

I think it has less to do with men being repulsed by the idea of equality and more to do with how feminists have gone about this whole equality thing. They're so unrealistic about it, hateful about it and hypocritical beyond words. Equality can't bring about a VAWA, Affirmative Action and post-conception reproductive rights for women only. These gender specific laws are just a few examples of the hypocrisy that this whole equality thing has brought about. It would certainly be repulsive to women if the tables were turned.
