My Kitten Has HCM, HELP?

While I can't answer for your kitten, I can tell you my experience with one of my foster cats. She had HCM and a very severe murmur, properly diagnosed by a cardiologist. She was eventually put on a drug called Atenolol, which allows the heart to beat with less force, and hopefully allows the thickened heart walls to thin out again. With her - it worked! She was an older cat - 8 or 9, and was still going strong 5 years later. Her cardiologist changed her appointments from every 6 months to a yearly interval. Her adopters love her, and are thankful that her condition has improved. PVC attatchers?

PVC pipe and fittings are made to be glued together. They should fit snug though even without glue. I think someone sold you something other than PVC for the coupling. Usually, you can not push the pipe all the way into the fitting until you apply the glue. It should not wiggle around.

My dad had this happen when he broke his leg. There is no way to stretch your leg, just as there is no way to make yourself taller. You could see your normal doctor, unless you mean professional by that. You can always get a cheap insert for your right shoes. You just need one and you can use it in all of them. Just go to a local drug store and ask about one. Otherwise you can make your own to fit into your shoe with cardboard or something, just won't be as comfortable as a purchased one. The best idea would be to see your normal doctor. They will normally give you a lift and it shouldn't expensive! Best of luck!

Alternator belt broke, replaced now vehicle does not start?

Maybe I wasnt clear about the vehicle I am talking about. This is a 1987 acura legend 2.7 liter v6 programmed fuel injection, with v belts. However it has electronic fans and is front wheel drive. I want an answer not crap Im sure somebody knows, please and thank you. I was driving the other night and my alternator belt broke and the car was still running just fine, until I stopped at an intersection and then my other belt broke which goes to my power steering pump. The car then shut down and would not start back up. The only belt that did not break was my ac compressor belt. So I went and got an alternator belt and put it back on the alternator hoping that would fix it and it wont start at all now. I havent replaced the one in the pump yet as I was just hoping to get it home but it will not start or even try to start unless you crank it excessively and hold your foot to the floor and even then it will sputter but will not fully start. This is a nice car And we have had it since 1987 so we refuse to get rid of it. This car ran like it was brand new, perfect until those belts broke and now it wont start. The timing belt is there and my alternator was fairly new, also I bought the battery 3 days ago so I know it is not bad as the car cranks with absolutely no problem and there was no signs of anything being bad before this.

A good friend of mine, Sarah, is going through a really tough time. Her sister was diagnosed with ALL which is a type of cancer. She's been in the hospital since she was diagnosed, and she's had 3 surgeries and chemotherapy. She's 8 months old. My friend got news from the doctor today, and he said that she doesn't have much longer, and that he can't administer anymore chemo or do another surgery because she's too weak, so he doesn't know if she'll make it. My friend is only 17, and she's been raising her sister since she was born. She doesn't have any other family, so when her sister is gone she said she'll have nothing to live for. No, for these reasons. A tarantula needs to roam a little, and cannot do so in a small box or tank. If you could supply it with a large area to live than I would say go for it. I read an article on the NY Times about how robots could one day replace humans on the battlefield and that they are already using these robots in afghanistan and korea for certain missions. Is this the direction the military is going? It is like no matter what the team does, people will have something negative to say. Take this season for an example. If the team doesn't win the World Series, people will call the team overrated and say how they buy all these player yet still can't win. It doesn't matter if they make it into the playoffs. Coming out of a coma...?

Ok my stepdad went in for surgery and was supposed to come home the following day but the day after his procedure he stopped breathing which stopped his heart which started again after they shocked him but I guess he had very low blood pressure during and for a long time after and his brain, due to such lack of oxygen is now "permanately' damaged...There is brain activity but its very low and he did open his eyes every so often but they just kinda looked up or rolled around before closing again. He just got put back on a respirator but up until 2 days ago was for the most part breathing on his own. His Dr has only been very positive and optomistic from the start which confuses us because as an example, the day he stopped breathing the dr called saying we can pick him up that afternoon, then 15 minutes later the chaplain called. ANYWAYS...I want to know if there are survivors that were in this same situation and recovered and if the brain can once again function normally. Like I said he does open his eyes every now and then so its not like hes just a vegetable or in a sleeping coma, hes just unresponsive. Also I want to know if theres some type of hypnosis that can be used, a way to guide whatever form of conscienceness hes to Wake up his brain, I hope that makes sense. Thankyou

Could my three month old have a cold?

Alright, my three month old daughter has always been a very good baby. She only ever cries when she is hungry, and tends to fuss a tiny bit when she's tired. Lately however she seems very irritable. She doesn't have hour long crying fits as if she were colicky, but for about five minutes or so you have to keep trying different things with her to make her happy: standing her up, sitting her down, laying her down, holding her to your chest while sitting, holding her to your chest while standing and walking, putting her in her swing, putting her in her walker, etc. She has been drooling quite a bit, and sucking on her fingers, sometimes crying when she does, I figured that she was teething early. However she is also having more snot and boogers than she's had before, and seems to be choking or gargling a lot of mucus or drool. Let's see..a little over 2 years ago my leg was smashed in between a forklift and a pallet..almost 7k pounds and somehow it didn't break..or so they say :0. Anyways..it was smashed in my calf area down to just above my ankle..I went to the doctor immediately because ..i couldn't walk for one..and it huuuurrrt. I have this big dent in my leg to now..kinda cool. They did x-ray and said it wasn't broke or anything, just smashed bad, only tissue damage. I had this huge pocket of blood on the left side of my leg that started at the top and went all the way down to my ankle..was like jelly when i pushed on it, rippled like water :0. They said it would drain out by itself..and it should get better in a week or 2... It took almost 6 months for my leg to drain. My leg still swells when i am on it to much and also i can't put much pressure on it, like sitting on my knees, hurts in the bone area on the front. I had a MRI done as well and turned up nothing..What do u think is the problem?

I was a scrapper at school. Ive taken hits, whatever. I never threw many hits though. I always grappled. There was a move I discovered, where I put someone in what looks like a chinlock, but they arent face downl, and neither am I It starts like a reverse chinlock, but I use their lack of balance, to pull them on their back. Not to the ground, but they dont have enough leverage to stand either. As I gain more of my leverage they go down further and have less range of motion to manuever with, and there is more tension on the neck. I would recommend going for the RN. I know in my area they are trying to phase them out and they are limited to where they can work. Where I work they will make them work as a tech if needed. Most LPN positions are in nursing homes. Also a hospital in my area just recently fired some LPN's due to the recession. You're better off getting your cna, and working as a tech while going through nursing school. If you want less schooling try an ociate degree RN program.

It is actually very common for toddlers to go through some very odd eating phases as well as being picky. One of the things to consider is that after 12 months, a child's rate of growth slows considerably. From birth to 12 months, a baby's rate of gain is huge. Just compare what a newborn looks like to what a 12 month old looks like. In the stage where babies are quickly growing, frequent eating is required to maintain adequate calorie intake. Sometime around 12 months a baby's rate of growth slows down. Evidence of this is to consider what a 12 month old looks like compared to a 24 month old. Very little in the way of height and weight gain compared to birth to 12 months. It is very normal for parents to become a little worried when their child isn't eating very much or even anything at all. I have been a mom for 30 years. I have 4 kids. I am also grandma to a 2 1/2 year old grandson plus I have been a licensed child care provider in my home for 22 years. It has taken a lot of trial and error over the years, but I have found a way of feeding children that has been very successful. The first thing that is helpful is to re-focus your goals. It is normal to be focused on getting kids to eat something so we become short-order cooks, making foods we know our kids have eaten in the past. What inadvertently happens is we create our own little picky eaters when we serve a meal/snack than when they won't eat it, we begin offering other food choices until we find the one thing they will eat. This teaches the child that "I don't have to eat the first thing put in front of me because if I hold out long enough, mom/dad will bring out the good stuff." What works well is to make it your job to plan, prepare, and serve a wide variety of healthy food choices. As soon as the food is served, though, your responsibility to it is over. At that point in time it becomes your daughter's responsibility to eat what and how much she wants. If that happens to be nothing at all, than you respect that. Say something like, "I see you aren't hungry right now. I'll put this away and you can have something later." Than, you get her down, put away the food, and wait at least an hour before offering her something else. Toddlers have very tiny tummies and offering them a meal or snack about every 2-3 hours throughout their waking hours is a good goal. At nearly 13 months she can easily feed herself even if it is still always with her fingers. When you put her food in front of her, give her a spoon and fork, too. She may or may not use them at first, but eventually she will with practice. Children who are in the 1-3 year old age range only require about 16 ounces of fluid milk per day. Depending on a toddler's activity level they are going to require about 1000 - 1400 calories per day. If your daughter is receiving around 30 ounces of whole milk per day than about 1/2 of her daily calories are coming from that source. The easiest thing to do is still offer her milk during her usual times, but cut back the amount. Aim for 4 ounces at each meal/snack, but at first you may have to just cut back an ounce or 2 at a time. 4 ounces of juice is an excellent amount per day for anyone. You can stretch if further by using 1/4 juice to 3/4 water instead of 1/2 and 1/2. The fact that she eats only a bite here or there isn't of concern as that is not unusual. Too much milk, though, is probably cutting in to her ability to listen to her hunger cues. Cut back on milk, offer more healthy choices and don't offer her alternatives if she doesn't eat. Be consistent and you'll probably find meal time is a lot less stressful for everyone.

I think you need to decide before you get married. Ask your fiance if having children is something she is set on. Starting a family is a big deal and to some people it is a deal maker or breaker. I'm not saying that you should decide to have kids because she wants them, but you should be honest with her (and yourself) if you don't. Ask yourself this: what happens if you have children and then you totally regret it and feel trapped? Or, what happens if you decide not to and she resents you for it later and your marriage gets messed up? My best advice would be to spend a lot time around kids. Babysit for family and friends, often. Go into a store, (grocery store works best) and look for a checkout line where there isn't a conveyor belt and watch the customers go through. 99% of the customers will take their items out of the cart and place them as far away on the other side of the counter as possible. Even spacing the items closely together to do this. The cashier then has to reach a ton. It is actually very interesting especially considering almost everybody does the exact same thing time and time again. The customers will even watch the cashier reach and nothing will spark in their brain. I can not figure out why though. Rarely the customer will be like "oh sorry" and then scoot the items closer. Here's what I have so far: It is catalase (+), oxidase (-), methyl red (+), ferments lactose, maltose, glucose, sucrose, and mannitol (it was acidic and produced gas), did not digest gelatin. bile esculin turned black, citrate (+), SIM all negative, urease (-), and appears to be a facultative anaerobe. On a plate, the colonies grow quickly and look slimy (but I haven't successfully done a capsule stain yet). Colonies are a creamy white color. On starch, there is a "halo" effect when iodine is added. Hemolysis of blood agar looks like gamma or alpha, hard to tell. Anyway, according to my book, it looks like a Shigella or Klebsiella species, but my instructor posted a sheet telling where to find these bacteria and this doesn't seem to fit the lung/resp. tract thing. I know Klebsiella CAN cause pneumonia, but the lungs and resp. tract are not a normal place it would be found, right? If anyone can offer me some advice about additional testing or what kind of bacteria this might be, I'd appreciate it!

The guy I've been involved with lives in another state. We saw each other last week and he is super in to me. My GSD growing too fast it hurts him?

Question about Hypoglocemia. Do you have this problem?

I have hypoglocemia and have a really bad sugar drop two or three times a week, depending on how stressed I am. People around me that have diabetes are always saying to me "at least you are not diabetic". Well, I have never had diabetes and I DO have respect for those that do. What they do not understand is that having hypoglocemia is NO picnic. Mine gets so bad sometimes its all I can do to find my glucose without thinking I am getting ready to drop into a coma any second. It also gives me no warning most of the time. And by the time I DO get my levels back up it has wore me out as bad as if I had ran a marathon. I get really emotional afterward, ie..crying and irritated. I pretty much have a glucose monitor within reach 24/7. Anyway, what my question is, Does anyone else have this problem? I hate feeling so helpless.

i think most breeders are bad breeders but in reference to this particular breed, the color white is a recessive gene,so when you intentionally breed 2 recessive gened animals together, you are more likely to get all the genetic problems, cancers,etc. so that being said any breeders of white gsd are breeding a large number of animals that will definately have health problems. that being said it is a matter of opinion whether that is considered cruel. having had to put a fair number of these animals to sleep due to various bred in problems i consider the white gsd a breed fine to faze out.

I have a question about my cat?

I recently adopted a beautiful 2 year old Maine Coon cat from the Humane Society. It's my first pet in probably 4 years and my first cat since I was a teenager. I feel like an overprotective "mom". But I am worried about her. I've noticed she hasn't been drinking her water these last couple days. I mean sure maybe she is when I'm not looking. But I'm with her nearly all day. She hangs out on my sun porch a lot, sleeping in the sun. I'm worried that she'll dehydrate. So far she seems like her normal silly and playful self. She's still eating, playing and running around. But I don't see her drinking and she seems to be urinating less. I've not scooped as much out of her litter box. Am I right to be worried or am I making too much of this?
